OK,

Sorry for the long delay, I hope everyone’s trading has been going well. Finally back from vacation, got my software issues resolved, and was able to get my first full day of trading (since my vacation) in today.

Tough day to come back into the market but I didn’t help my cause much as I made a number of impatient-related errors as I tried to milk a dry cow today. Very choppy day and althought I managed a 67% win rate, all of my losses were full stops which completely erased any gains.

Things might be slow until Tuesday so I’m not getting my hopes up for a great pickup in action tomorrow or Monday, but hopefully I’ll be able to sit on my hands a little better.

As you may or may not have noticed, I have included a new set of metrics underneath my results that I will start posting daily that will give you a more complete picture of how my trading went today as well as an idea for the kinds of metrics you can use to help gauge your own trading results.

I have been following these numbers separately for a while now, but I decided that I wanted to combine them into some sort of quick & easy-to-use score that would quickly sum up how I performed on any given day.

The components of the score are:

Batting Average : # Wins / # Trades
Full Stop % : # Full Stops / # Trades
Errors Per Trade : Average # of “Y”s in the columns where I made a “BAD” or “OK” trade

While I will be tweaking my goals as I continue to develop as a trader, my current daily goals are as follows:

Batting Average : 70% or greater
Full Stop % : 10% or less
EpT : Less than 1.00

The score is simply a composite of these 3 components whereby the higher the score the better. Anything great than 0 is a good day, and anything less than 0 is a bad day.

I just created the score today, but I went back and calculated it for the past 2 weeks of trading and it fits my results very very well. Anytime I had a score of -.06 or greater I had a winning day, and whenever it was less than that, I had a losing day. So I plan on using the score as a general barometer of my results and the components as diagnostic tools that can be more specific in pointing me in the right direction when my results start to slip.

As it turns out, today was the lowest Score I’d had over the past 2 weeks :-< But I was rusty :-D

For you Excel buffs or anyone else who would like to use my spreadsheet to help track your own results, I've uploaded the updated version of it on my Downloads Page. But you can Download the ScalpRate Spreadsheet Here if you would like. (Note: My full ScalpRate spreadsheet includes all of my daily trades, metrics, and commentary that I use every day to help keep me on the right track)
