TradeTheMarkets.com Free Stock Market Videos

First, a quick update on my Tradestation application. Still have yet to receive confirmation of the account being open so I am unable to trade today. They have received the paperwork so it should be processed shortly.

The time off has given me some time to do a little studying and I recently finished a new and excellent book by John Carter entitled “Mastering the Trade

It is different from most other trading books out there in that it doesn’t assume that you know absolutely nothing about how the market works and basic technical analysis already and dives right into some issue not usually covered by other books such as the kind of computer Workstation, Hardware, & Software that you should be running to both optimize your time & space as well as protect yourself in the case of the inevitable outage.

Helpful websites & resources are also included, but I’ll post a number of them here.

A great deal of the book deals with the setups that the Author uses in the Futures markets mainly (although most will work equally as well in the Equity markets too). This is of interest to me because for the first time, I am opening a futures account and trying to broaden my horizons beyond just stocks.

John Carter and Hubert Senters have a website that has some very informative free daily videos: www.tradethemarkets.com that I would highly recommend everyone take a look at. Their daily educational videos run 5-10 minutes and are totally free. For a taste of what their videos are like, here are the most recent ones by Hubert Senters:

part1- How to buy a pull back.

part2- How to use pit noise, internals and tape to gauge if it will continue.

part3- Progaming Ttrading.

part4- Put Call Ratio for Esiganl users, questions and how to add sound alert to Tradestion.

part5- PC Hardware, LCDs Screens, Desks, lcd arms, Chairs and other stuff.

John Carter’s Daily Video

I checked out their “Indicators” tab on TradeTheMarkets.com and watched those videos as well and got some useful info. I wouldn’t actually purchase their indicators from them, but you can make them yourself with Tradestation or try to find them in an Indicator Library

Hopefully you guys will find something usefull here. I took their advice on a video card and purchased a Matrox G200 MMS Quad off of Ebay (Retails for anywhere between $350-600) but I recently snagged one for $60 off of Ebay. Make sure you search for the QUAD and not the DUAL card as the former supports up to 4 monitors while the latter only 2. Check this link here for vendors & description if you’re interested.

I’ll let you know when I have access to RT Charts again. Until them, I’m going to just sort of lay low and do some reading and writing.

Good trading!

Jason

Hate to have a day like today. I put in a couple scalp plays early, but left and didn’t look back after 11 AM. My picks didn’t do much at all today. Not much I can say really other than it looks like the start of my system’s payback cycle. Hopefully this one is shorter than the last one, but I’m actually curious to see since last time it lasted about 6 trading days 3/13 to 3/20 (losing about 5.5 R-Units) with the most recent payout cycle running from 3/21 to 4/11 (gaining about 18 R-Units).

Nice timing actually, since Tradestream Global announced yesterday that they are going out of business as of Tomorrow. TSG is the company that I’ve been getting my charts from. So today I was scrambling around to open up a Tradestation Account. Looks like I’m finally going to have to bite the bullet and get Tradestation. I’m excited and overwhelmed at the same time as it always takes a little bit of time to get used to a new platform, especially one as powerful as Tradestation. I’ll now have access to a host of tools that TSG couldn’t even come close to.

That said, I will likely not have access to Tradestation until this weekend and will be taking the next couple days off to go on vacation with my wife. So
A.) I get to hopefully avoid my next payback cycle
B.) I don’t have access to good charts anyways (unless you consider those crappy charts offered by Interactive Brokers) and
C.) I’m looking forward to a little break as I prepare for all the studying i’m going to have to do next week to get my feet under me with Tradestation

So have a great weekend and happy trading!

4-11-2006 Daily Stock Pick Results

Wow, today saw the largest number of my picks ever triggering. I wasn’t able to take anywhere close to all of them. And since most of the long positions triggered early on in the day, I was over-concentrated long in the morning to the point of not being able to take advantage of some of the shorts later on. It would appear that more and more of my picks have been triggering here recently so I might have to do a better job of cutting back on the number of them again. I try to keep it around 20 with 30 max.

Today was one of those suck & crap days for the longs which isn’t unfathamable but is relatively unusual enough on a large scale. Still though, today made 5 out of the past 6 days with R-Unit returns of 2+ which certainly beats my stated goal of 1/day.

Again, today I’m positioned in both directions as the markets could break either way after yesterday’s dojis.
