3-13-2006 Daily Stock Pick Results

Wow, what a day! It certainly was an interesting one though I’ll admit it caught me off guard. I did buy a couple thousand shares of QQQQ on open and was very promptly rewarded with a quick pop but then it started to scare me. I had taken some profits around 40.90 and exited the rest at a loss when price broke to a new day’s low under 40.69. Given the potency of the PMS this morning I was surprised not to see more followthrough but you can’t argue with the market.

On to the Results:

CBH: Opened strong and ran swiftly to my target…the day was looking good….
ALKS & DCGN: Also broke out and my hopes were high…but they both promtly reversed & delivered a -.5 R-return each
ELOS & ARO: My 2 DT-L plays crapped out on me as well and gave me another -1 R-Return
ADRX: But the day’s salvation came with ADRX. A beautiful gap & crap play that I unfortunately played at only 1/3 of the lot size my plan called for (thus the -.48% Daily R.O.I.)…

So I ended the day down slightly when I should have been up slightly, a victim of my own expectancies. My picks however did produce a slightly positive, .52 R-Unit return for the day. I’ll take that given the action in the markets today!

Interesting Trader Video

Bo Yoder recently posted an interesting free video analysis of the kind of play that you won’t find in any book but can be very profitable nonetheless.

Here is the Link to the Video

The strategy here is simple & powerful, look for instances where an issue fails to followthrough based on a widely accepted technical pattern and reverse. This is an example of one of the kinds of plays that I look for often in my daily picks. The benefit is that you enter only after a breakout when the whole technical analysis crowd is anticipating a breakdown. As people rush to cover shorts & change their opinion, there will be relatively little risk in getting stopped out since you have A.) The first group of buyers that originally prevented the stock from falling when it “should” and B.) The T.A. people out there covering their shorts and jumping on the bandwagon.

While he doesn’t post often, Bo does have some good bits of information on his blog that may be worth your time.

The PMS today is 12,0,0 Where 12 = the score, 0 = the number of conflicting signals, & 0 = the number of neutral signals. I’m adding this notation from the point forward to help bring some clarity to the score. The higher the first number and the lower the seccond 2, the better the chance of market followthrough.

This is the best PMS I have seen in months & perhaps may be the best ever (I’d have to double check). I will be long heavily today & may even just leverage myself to the max & play the QQQQ. I’ll have to wait & see how the markets respond on open & I have a nice diverse set of picks today but it is hard to ignore that score.

*** A Note for Today & from this point forward, “On Open” plays are now to be played via a 5 min breakaway or reversal with a stop over the 30 minute high or the high of Pre-Market trading (whichever is higher)… I’ll try to come up with a better notatation as now “On Open” seems rather confusing. Another point, if within that 5 minutes price advances in the direction of the target such that the Reward : Risk would be less than 1:1 based on where the stop would have to be, then the play will be SCRATCHED.

Good luck today, looks like it might be a fun one!
